![]() ![]() Also, jerry boxes give very shitty loot, and never anything worth much more than the initial cookie (most valuable drop is like, barley profitable considering its low drop% and it only being ~+100% gain). ofc you can get right to earning millions in seconds after that but stillĭespite all of this, I still think the server is still pve and making money this way is horrifical inefficient. My take on Hypixel Skyblock is a little different.īuying booster cookies and selling them does make you millions of coins, but it has a few drawbacks like needing 8 hours of playtime to buy the cookies, and the bazaar needs to be unlocked. ![]() ![]() A player who pays for those perks can ultimately progress faster than a player of equivalent skill/ability who doesn't pay for those perks. These perks have an active impact on gameplay.A player who did not pay for those buffs/resources would not have access to those buffs/resources.I guess those would be an example of pay-to-avoid-losing, but it's not pay-to-win, because a player who pays does not have any sort of in-game advantage over a player who doesn't pay.īut, with hypixel, their payments, and the buffs/resources players can take advantage of during normal gameplay which they have access to because they paid for them are pay-to-win. ![]() For example, the sorts of utterly useless cosmetic items that you can use to flex on people.Īdditionally, I'd argue that stuff like the 'continues' in ye olde arcade cabinet games don't count as pay-to-win either, as, even though they offer players some additional leeway if they're willing to pay money for it, the continues themselves have no real impact on the game (merely resetting your character to full health and lives and such, but not providing any sort of buff to your character in the actual gameplay). If the thing being purchased was not something with any real gameplay impact, it wouldn't be pay to win. However, the thing in question is what makes it pay to win. Sure, 'its a thing you would otherwise grind for', by itself, is not inherently pay to win. Then again, the money/boosts you gain by paying give you an objective advantage that someone who didn't pay would have to grind for. ![]()
